Brookfield Asset Management Inc (NYSE:BAM)

Brookfield is an alternative asset manager company listed on the New York stock exchange. They released an interim report for the first quarter of 2018 ended 31 March 2018. Their revenue increased by 110%, funds from operations increased by 74% and they increased their interim dividend per share to $1.16 from $0.65 in the prior year.

Massmart Holdings Limited (MSM)

Massmart released a sales update for the 26 weeks ended 1 July 2018. Massmart’s total sales for the 26-week period of R41.6 billion represent an increase of 1.9%, with comparable stores increasing by 0.2%. product deflation is estimated at 0.7%.

Kumba Iron Ore Limited (KIO)

Kumba released a trading statement for six months ended 30 June 2018. Kumba advised shareholders that headline earnings per share is expected to be between R9.02 and R9.24, a decrease of between 34% and 37% compared to the prior reporting period.

Steinhoff International Holdings N.V. (SNH)

SNH have received the necessary credit report for its three-year debt standstill plan.

Stenprop Limited (STP)

Stenprop announced the disposal of two of its Swiss properties, Altendorf and Arlesheim. The aggregate consideration for these disposals is CHF76.35 million, to be settled in cash.

Economic News

The SA Reserve Bank’s monetary policy committee has left the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%. The central bank also adjusted their GDP growth estimate downwards to 1.2% in 2018 from 1.7%.

Anheuser Busch Inbev NV (ANH)

AB Inbev’s share price increased by 1.54% yesterday to close the day at R1 387.71. If this stock should break above its 200-day moving average it could lead to further resistance being tested at R1 450.15 followed by R1 542.91. On the downside, if the 200-day moving average holds as a resistance level it could test support at R1 166.40.
