Microsoft recently released its financial results for the first quarter of its 2021 financial year. The company’s revenue rose by 12% to USD37.2 billion (1Q2020: USD33 billion), beating analysts’ estimates of USD35.72 billion (IBES data from Refinitiv).

Management attributes the transactional weakness during 3Q2020 to a strong prior year comparable that included the end of support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, as well as transactional strength in Japan across its Office businesses, which will continue to impact growth rates in the future.
